I hate the Pixies
Since I was a freshman in high school there was one band that has sat in the number one position of my top ten favorite bands of all time list. That is the Pixies. Some bands, like Radiohead, Built To Spill, and Neutral Milk Hotel…have nipped away at the Pixies, trying to wrench them out of that much desired position of positions. They all failed, the Pixies were timeless and stalwart. Too many of the most dramatic moments of my life have had the Pixies playing in the background as a soundtrack. Now, with their reunion, they may finally find themselves slowly working their way down my list. When I heard 11-city North American tour I figured Boston, Chicago, NYC, DC…you know, all places I can make it to if I need to. However, they have just released a list of their North American tour dates, all I can do is quote pitchforkmedia by saying “WTF?!?”

After that tour the Pixies jump the pond and head over to Europe where they will spend sometime opening…OPENING?!?!? for the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I imagine it will be during that leg of their reunion that they self-destruct again. I will be snubbed. All of the people I have made mix tapes and CDs of Pixies music for over the years, continuing the enlistment of Pixies fans throughout the generations, will be snubbed. I mean, they may come back intact. It is possible, but I have no faith. Now pardon me, I need to go cry.
