Pale Young Gents keep on keeping on
I’ve decided to cut back on my coverage of the Pale Young Gentlemen over on dane101. They just make it so easy to write about them with the consistent blogosphere banter and praise, but I want to make sure other Madison bands receive proper exposure so the time has come to change the roll of film and adjust the focus. Of course, I’m sure more than one non-Wisconsin music blogger will choose to put the self-titled debut on an end of year list, so I’ll have to revisit them at the end of the year.
The horizon is looking bright for PYG. They have two shows coming up in Chicago in the next two months which should put them up front and center for Chicago show goers. I plan to make my way down for the January 3 show at the Empty Bottle when they are scheduled to play with Louisville’s People Noise.
Sigh…Looking at the Empty Bottle’s roster always depresses me. Oh, Madison, how you are unjustly malnourished by the Promoter Powers that Be. Route up, young traveling bands, route up.
I’m not willing to put my money on it, but I have a feeling that the Cafe Montmartre show on January 18 may be one of our last opportunities to see PYG at a 200 capacity venue for quite some time.
