Reintroducing Garfield
Have you read the comic strip Garfield recently? Do you wonder why you ever thought it was funny? Me too. But now, thanks to developments in technology, you can once again find everyone’s favorite fat cat amusing (hat tip to Dr. Robot).
First up, what happens if Garfield was just a normal cat and we had no idea what he was thinking. Turns out it is quite a bit like actually owning a cat, those jerks never have anything to say, but you know what they are thinking. Thought bubbles removed by the folks at Truth and Beauty Bombs.
See? Funny. But what if Garfield didn’t exist and it was just Jon living pitifully alone in his house sans cat? Garfield Minus Garfield did the dirty work of taking Garfield out of this world.
Of course, you can’t get much better than the Garfield panel randomizer which cutsup Garfield strips and randomly puts them together.
Then of course we have the Garfield parodies, such as the Conan/Garfield mash-ups by Ian MacDonald.
Then there is the most recent trend of taking Garfield and putting him in video. Who can forget the Robot Chicken parody of Garfield? I can’t, but I also can’t show it to you, because it doesn’t exist on YouTube. However, I can bring you the next best thing, LasagnaCat! A tribute to Jon Davis. Over at LasagnaCat they take your favorite Garfield strips and make them live action. The end of the video is usually very, very…ummm…special and you need to watch it just to understand. This is my favorite episode of LasagnaCat.
